The Latvian Council of Science, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science, announces that the deadline for completing the survey on the research environment in Latvia has been extended until 16 November 2026. The extension gives members of the research community who have not yet shared their experiences more time to participate.
We thank everyone who has already taken the time to complete the survey. Every response matters in building a comprehensive picture of the research environment in Latvia, identifying the challenges researchers face in their day-to-day work and determining what improvements are needed.
The survey covers various aspects of research work, including access to infrastructure and essential resources, working conditions, career development and administrative processes. It also includes questions on international cooperation, the practical application of research results, open science and science communication.
The responses will help policymakers make informed decisions, reduce the administrative burden and tailor support mechanisms to researchers’ needs.
Research staff who have not yet participated are invited to complete the survey by 16 November 2026.
It takes approximately 20–25 minutes to complete. Participation is anonymous, and the data collected will be processed and published only in aggregate, without disclosing respondents’ names or data relating to individual institutions. The survey is available in Latvian and English.
The Latvian Council of Science and Ministry of Education and Science encourage higher education institutions, research institutions and other organisations to share this information so that the opportunity to participate reaches as many members of Latvia’s research community as possible.
For any questions, please contact aptauja@lzp.gov.lv.
Thank you for your participation and contribution to the development of research in Latvia!
The survey is conducted as part of the EU-funded project “More Effective and Smarter Implementation and Management of Latvian Science Policy”, No. 1.1.1.1/1/24/I/001.
