On 2 June 2026, Brussels will host the international event “Eastern Border Innovation Ecosystems: Finland–Latvia Cooperation for Resilience and Competitiveness”, bringing together key stakeholders from the Latvian and Finnish innovation ecosystems to strengthen regional cooperation, exchange good practices, and foster more resilient and competitive innovation environments across Eastern border regions.
In today’s rapidly changing geopolitical and economic landscape, preparedness and resilience have become increasingly important priorities for innovation ecosystems. Universities, SMEs, technology transfer offices, and public institutions need to strengthen their capacity to commercialise research results, secure strategic funding, and scale innovative solutions internationally.
The event will focus on practical experiences and approaches from Finland and Latvia, highlighting innovation commercialisation, collaboration between research and industry, and opportunities to better leverage European initiatives and support mechanisms. The programme will also provide valuable networking opportunities and encourage stronger cooperation and knowledge exchange between stakeholders from both countries.
The event is co-organised by the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU, the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the EU, the Association of Finnish Cities and Municipalities, the Latvian Council of Science, LMT, Ækora, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Business Finland, the City of Kuopio, and Patria.
